Productions > YOHEN, by Philip Kan Gotanda

Yohen examines the challenges facing James, an African-American World War II veteran, and his Japanese wife, Sumi, after more than 30 years of marriage. In order to come to terms with the years of miscommunication and disappointment that have driven her from her husband, Sumi bans James from their house, forcing him to “start from the beginning” and reignite their courtship by visiting her as if it were a first date.
